Eolo Pharma is a Uruguayan-Argentine clinical research and biotechnology startup developing treatments for obesity. It emerged in 2017 from a collaboration of scientists at the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo and has developed a molecule called MVD1. The company raised a US$2.7 million Series A round led by venture capital funds CITES and Ficus Capital, along with a group of international investors, to fund preclinical trials for its obesity treatment. It is led by CEO and co-founder María Pía Garat and operates across Uruguay and Argentina. The company received the NOVA de Oro award, a notable recognition in the region.
