Future Cow is a Brazilian foodtech startup that produces recombinant dairy proteins using precision fermentation, aiming to address global protein shortages and reduce environmental impact. The company's process involves downloading the genetic sequence of milk protein, coding microorganisms such as yeast with the DNA instructions, and fermenting them in tanks to produce animal-free dairy proteins that are identical to conventional milk proteins. These proteins are sold as ingredients to food industries for use in dairy products, offering a lactose-free, cholesterol-free, and hormone-free alternative. Future Cow has raised approximately R$4.85 million (~US$885,000) in equity funding from collective capital and public funds, including FAPESP and EMBRAPII, to scale its technology and research.
