Kontigo is a USDC-based neobank that addresses inflation, high fees and the limitations of traditional banking for underbanked Latinos in Latin America and the United States. The product is a digital account denominated in USDC (the stablecoin issued by Circle and backed 1:1 by US dollars) that lets users save and invest in dollars with yields advertised up to 10%, send and receive money in bolivars, pesos, dollars and euros converted instantly to USDC, deposit via local or international methods, open a US bank account, and invest in Bitcoin. Users sign up through its Android/iOS app or web app using Google, Apple or email. It targets Latino consumers and SMBs across more than 100 countries, with the founding team's background in Venezuelan micro-lending. Reported traction includes 10,000 active users, about $540,000 in deposits and a waitlist exceeding 300,000 shortly after launching its peer-to-peer onramp, while its site cites over 1 million users and more than 1,000 companies; it is backed by investors including DST Global, Soma Capital, Pioneer Fund, Transpose, HF0, Founders Inc., OrangeDAO and Optimism, and was part of Y Combinator's S24 batch.
