Nuup

MexicoAgtechFounded 2017

Nuup is a Mexican social enterprise, founded in 2015, that works to improve the income and livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Mexico, where only a small portion of such farmers make any profit. It connects producers with a range of actors — including agronomists, multinational corporations and lenders — while making regenerative and sustainable farming techniques more accessible, with the goal of building more sustainable and inclusive agri-food systems. The organisation was created as a result of the Co-Creation Agenda for Inclusive Agriculture, an initiative led by Ashoka Mexico and Central America and the Walmart Foundation of Mexico in collaboration with the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and Accenture; its name means "connection" in the Mayan language. According to the evidence, Nuup has grown from an advisory role into building a regenerative model for transforming Mexican agriculture, employing more than 50 people and supporting over ten thousand producers each year.
