ProNuvo is a Costa Rican foodtech startup that produces sustainable insect-based ingredients for animal feed, addressing the environmental problems of traditional feed production and food waste. The company uses Black Soldier Fly larvae, which are natural decomposers, to convert organic waste into high-quality feed ingredients. Its products are targeted at the animal nutrition industry, primarily in Latin America. ProNuvo raised $2 million from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to complete construction of a 4,000-ton annual capacity plant in Guápiles, Costa Rica, positioning itself as a leader in insect-based protein in the region.
